Are veneers good for your teeth, looking at the bigger picture it’s TRUE that veneers are overall good for your teeth.

There are a few downsides, I’ll get to that shortly, first let’s look a little closer at what are they, what is the treatment and how much do they cost.

Two types of good veneers

Patients have the choice of two types of veneers composite resin or porcelain.

Composite Resin Veneers vs. Porcelain Veneers

Composite resin veneers

Composite resin veneers have some good points.

The number one advantage is their cost effectiveness without compromising on quality.

A second advantage is they can be quickly fabricated whilst the patient is there.

Basically composite resin veneers are directly sculpted into the teeth.

As opposed to porcelain veneers where they have to be fabricated in the lab.

The resin that dentists use is applied directly onto the patient’s teeth.

It is then shaped and polished until the teeth look more natural.

Unlike porcelain veneers the material in composite veneers can if needed be rejigged.

Whilst some patients opt for composite veneers the majority opt for porcelain veneers.

Composite veneers are a faster way to get that beautiful smile.

In conclusion, composite veneers should last 4-8 years.

On the other hand. porcelain veneers usually last between 10-15 years.

The more popular veneers that Perfect Smile Dental Clinic Hungary fit for patients are porcelain veneers.

In terms of cost, veneers are a little bit more expensive than the alternative composite resin veneers.

However, that little bit of extra cost means that the patient receives a more robust and attractive new set of teeth.

In addition porcelain veneers are more stain resistant, natural looking and shinier.

The pros of veneers

There are a number of reasons why you should consider veneers, one of the biggest is their ability to look exactly like straight white teeth.

They cover 100% of the teeth surface, in comparison to other methods such as teeth whitening.

They do a much better job in terms of creating a healthy looking bright smile.

Porcelain veneers are more popular with our patients, one reason is the fact that light reflects off this type of veneer much the same as healthy teeth enamel.

This effect means that these new teeth look so natural and good for your teeth.

Veneers are stain resistant

Veneers are stain resistant, they are tough, the material in them makes it difficult for food and drink discoloration to take hold.

The compounds in food and drink simply fall away from veneers other can be easily brushed away from the surface.

Results are instant

When you get veneers fitted in Perfect Smile Hungary results are instant, immediately you can see your teeth looking brighter and whiter.

Versatile

Veneers are good for your teeth because they are versatile, they cover over teeth discoloration, cracks, chips, misshapen or crooked teeth.

No other dental solution exists that can do so much for so many issues with teeth.

How much do good veneers cost

We know that veneers are good for teeth, how much do they cost in Ireland.

A quick internet search reveals that one single veneer can cost up to €550 in a dental clinic in Ireland.

In a situation where the patient needs a full set of veneers for the top teeth they could be looking at a bill of 12 x €550 = €6,600.

Compare this cost for the same veneers in Perfect Smile Dental implant Centre Hungary where 12 x €365 porcelain veneers cost only €4380.

Improving how your teeth look is more affordable in Hungary, another reason why veneers are good for your teeth is they can last up to 15 years.

In comparison to teeth whitening or alternative dental treatments veneers are better because of their longevity.

They are also less expensive than dental crowns.

How many visits do veneers require

Patients also want to know how many dental visits are required to get dental veneers.

The good news is that you will only need two visits to the clinic, the first visit is for your free consultation with our Hungarian dentist in Wexford.

The second visit for affordable veneers to Perfect Smile Dental Implant Centre Hungary begins with preparing your teeth for veneers.

Preparation involves removing small amounts of enamel from the affected teeth to make room for your veneers.

The colour of your veneers is chosen by you, they are cemented onto the affected teeth at the front of the mouth, the result is a beautiful bright natural looking smile.

The cons of veneers

No matter what treatment is used to restore affected teeth and that includes veneers there are drawbacks.

For example, dental veneers are a permanent treatment, there is no going back, in order for veneers to fit some tooth enamel has to be removed.

When tooth enamel is removed it causes teeth to become more sensitive to cold and heat.

This is because they are not thick enough to be a barrier inbetween your teeth and hot or cold foods.

There is no doubt about the attractiveness of veneers, however where teeth are badly decayed crowns rather than veneers may be the better option.

I mentioned that venrers could last up to 15 years, this may not be the case where teeth grinding or teeth clenching are a constant daily occurrence.

Veneers can over time chip or crack, composite veeners can stain, crack or chip.

  1. I had veneers put on my top front four teeth and it has really improved the look of my smile. I am slightly confused though, as you mention veeners, and sometimes veeneers, so are they the same, or is it a typo?

You mention that porcelain veneers will last approximately fifteen years and it is a permanent treatment. But can root canal work be done on teeth that have veneers on them? Or will it damage the veneer? Thank you for clarifying.

    • Hi Line,

It is a typo, thanks for pointing it out, I will correct that. If root canal work is required the veneer would have to be removed and replaced.

      Thank you, Fintan

  2. Hi!

Very interesting article on veneers. I often wondered about that process and you have shed some light on it. I have seen many actors/actresses on TV and in movies with perfect white teeth. I’ve always suspected that they have had something done to improve their smile.

There is one actress that I saw in a series. I remember in the last couple seasons, her mouth looked completely different from earlier seasons. It almost looked like the dental work she had done was too big for her mouth. Is it possible that veneers could be in place that didn’t look right in the mouth?

I’ve always been concerned about the color of my teeth – a bit yellowish. I wonder if veneers might be right for me?

    • Hi Scott,

Thank you for your comments. Yellow teeth could be hidden and improved from sn aesthetics point of view with veneers. However, there are other teeth whitening treatments available. You should contact your local dental clinic.

      All the best, Fintan

  3. You did such a great job explaining the pros and cons in a way that’s easy to understand. I really appreciated how you mentioned the importance of considering the long-term commitment before getting veneers—it’s something a lot of people might overlook. I’m curious, though, how do veneers compare to other cosmetic options like bonding or crowns in terms of durability and overall look? Also, do you think veneers are a good option for someone with slightly misaligned teeth, or would you suggest straightening them first? Thanks for sharing such insightful information; it’s really helped me think more clearly about the options!

    • Hi Bob,

Thank you for your comments, in terms of durability veneers should with proper care last as long as other options such as crowns or bonding, in terms of aesthetics they are equally pleasing as crowns but better than bonding. Slightly misaligned teeth need to be straightened prior to fitting veneers. All the best. Fintan

  4. The article says that veneers are a good option for people who want to improve the appearance of their teeth, but they are not a good option for people who grind or clench their teeth. Veneers are also not a good option for people who have weak teeth or who have had a lot of dental work done in the past.

  5. This article provides valuable insights into the pros and cons of veneers. It’s helpful to understand both the aesthetic benefits and the potential long-term effects on natural teeth. One question I have is about the durability of veneers—how long do they typically last, and what factors might influence their lifespan? Also, are there any specific maintenance tips to ensure veneers remain in good condition over the years? Thanks for breaking down such an important topic for those considering this dental option!

  6. Hello and thank you for this info on veneers! I do have one question. At the beginning the author wrote that there are two types of veneers, porcelain and composite resin, but then only went on to talk about the porcelain. Is there any more info that can be given as far as the composite resin veneers so that someone could compare the two?
